I am having trouble with the browser loading, every time I open Zac, right after it loads it will go black then after it comes back it will freeze, for about a min then when I do get to a page it can take about five min for the icons to load. I have had it rebot my computer too.
Hello Barbara - I'm sorry to hear you have some issues with Zac Browser. Please let me know what operating system you have in your computer, also the name of your anti-virus and how do you access the Internet? (dial-up, cable, etc.)
i just downloaded and installed the browser on my daughter's Compaq. Windows 7 x64. SP1 with MSE a/v. The program hangs when trying to load it's mouse program after giving administrator UAC approval. The taskbar disappears and the browser never loads. I installed in my admin account and then installed again in child's account. The Crash Recovery Tool does not show in my child's Start Menu. I had to Log her off to recover her Taskbar. The same thing occurs every time I try to start the zac browser. Is it x64 compatible?? I decided to come back to it and I completely uninstalled it. I reinstalled it on my daughter's account. Seems to work now. Update: Tues morn. I tried to launch the zac browser, Once again UAC blocked the mouse program. (even though I'm sure i permanetly allowed it last night) When I allowed it, task bar disappeared and no zac browser. Crash Recovery was ALSO blocked by UAC and IT also did not run after being allowed. This program does not seem to be compatible with Windows 7. When i get time I shall try to reinstall in Xp compatibility mode. Under no circumstances will i disable UAC and Parental Controls on my kid's computer. I have now tried XP compatibility mode. Zac browser now loads, but I STILL get a Parental Controls alert for kzmouse.exe. This alert appears behind Zac Broswer so we are unable to approve promotion. Also since I cannot find kzmouse.exe on C: ( it seems you extract it to appdata/local on EVERY run), I cannot specifically allow kzmouse.exe in Control Panel/Parental Controls dialog........................ ....not a good idea....
Hi Genesis - Zac Browser is fully compatible with Windows 7 x64. kzmouse.exe is simply blocking the left click of the mouse to improve the end-user experience. We suggest that you turn off the User Account Control (UAC) while using Zac Browser since we already provide full security. Once you close Zac Browser re-activate the UAC Control. As a side note - We will launch Zac Browser v3.0 before the end of 2011 - We won't be using kzmouse.exe anymore and should completely resolve the issue you have with UAC.
My post was a log of user experience. As such, all issues mentioned should have been addressed. Q.A There is definitely a problem if loading operation differs between native windows 7 and in XP compatibility mode. "kzmouse.exe is simply blocking the left click of the mouse to improve the end-user experience." I did not ask what it was doing. I understand it's purpose. I questioned why it is extracted on every run rather then being installed in program folder with the browser .There would be no issue if kzmouse was run from ZAC's Program Files folder. Parental Controls exception could then be applied, UAC elevation could be applied. There is little reason to extract and run kzmouse, exe from a temp folder every time ZAC browser is started. As a retired QA engineer, I am very curious why your designers thought this was necessary. you said : "We suggest that you turn off the User Account Control (UAC) while using Zac Browser since we already provide full security. Once you close Zac Browser re-activate the UAC Control." Pardon me? I'm not using this program, my handicapped child is, I would have thought the program was designed for her needs and abilities, not the caregiver's. My daughter's teacher informed me that she enjoys using the program at school, which is why I have installed it on her computer. However, at home, with the right mouse button unblocked, she is unable to use it at all. I hope your version 3 comes soon.
>> There is definitely a problem if loading operation differs between native windows 7 and in XP compatibility mode. There is not difference other than the UAC settings. >> I did not ask what it was doing. I understand it's purpose. I questioned why it is extracted on every run rather then being installed in program folder with the browser . We did this to provide a standalone application. Many parents are using Zac Browser on a USB Flash Drive. >> Pardon me? I'm not using this program, my handicapped child is, I would have thought the program was designed for her needs and abilities, not the caregiver's. Most parents will launch Zac Browser for their children. That's why we suggested to turn off the UAC yourself before launching Zac Browser for your daughter. >> I hope your version 3 comes soon. We are creating Zac Browser v3.0 from ground up with a new technology. It should be out before the end of the year.
